![]() News of this March 2023 release window is great, especially for fans who have kept up with the game's journey through development hell. The last time we saw System Shock was in a trailer released last June during the PC Gaming Show, but it's been on Game Informer's big list of upcoming video game remakes for a while now. ![]() The update then goes into detail on the various changes, effects, and features that will be present in the remake so if you're interested in a deeper dive, head there. "This has also given us time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that needed that extra shine." ![]() System Shock Remake is available now for the PC."As some of you have already pointed out, this is not our first time announcing a tentative launch window, but over the past few years, much has changed – the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project, it's enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support – the last major steps towards releasing a game we're all incredibly proud of," the update reads. ![]() With this in mind, the System Shock Remake has the potential to last up to 40 to 50 hours for completists. Moreover, achievement collectors must play the game at least twice with a guide to unlock everything. This is alleviated somewhat by the achievements, but only because it shows how much there is to find and discover at the Citadel Station. It is designed so players can take their time and mentally digest everything the sci-fi horror offers. System Shock is an immersive game, and part of the immersion is dropping the player into its world without handholding. Learning the Citadel - which plays like a science fiction dungeon - will take time, so the most determined players must know the map like the back of their hands. ![]() However, it will take several playthroughs and practice to become good enough to pull this off. As mentioned above, the highest challenge expects players to finish the game in 5 hours or less. With an average of 25 hours to finish a normal playthrough of the System Shock Remake, collectors and completists will take much longer to complete the game. ![]()
